Red Birds and Hazy Clouds

Pretty cerise bird why

do you peck at my windows

all day long?

My wife is in the kitchen

and she does not appreciate

this perturbation.

She undulates between the

counters.

Gliding with guile.

Sometimes I feel like

without you—cerise bird—

she would stop undulating

across the marble.

There would be no love in the morning

and in the night.
