Section Editor Positions:

Responsibilities of a Section Editor:

  • Formulating story ideas
  • Reading and editing all articles appearing in their section
  • Accountable for layout and production of their section
  • Recruiting staff writers

Copy Editor

Responsibilities include:

  • Proof-reading, editing, evaluating and fact checking all content prior to publication
  • Creating and managing written resources

Production Manager

Responsibilities include:

  • Layout and design of the newspaper print editions including:
  • Cover and centerfold design
  • Ad design
  • Photo and copy layout
  • Production staff management
  • General graphic design needs
  • Design and placement of all paid advertisements

Business/Advertising Manager

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing all financial aspects of the Athenaeum including:
  • Payroll
  • Budgeting
  • Securing new revenue sources
  • Organize effectiveness of the staff
  • Organize and approve any events hosted by the Athenaeum
  • Seek out advertisers to appear in the newspaper
  • Working closely with Production Manager to prepare proofs

Managing Editor

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in all duties of Editor-in-Chief
  • Responsible for managing content and layout of theath.ca
  • Overseeing the editorial content
  • Running staff meetings and overseeing production alongside the Editor-inChief

Photography Manager

Responsibilities include:

  • Assigning and managing staff photographers
  • Leading photo meetings
  • Establishing photo concepts
  • Ensuring photos to supplement all articles, covers and features
  • Editing and preparing all photos for online and print publications
  • Recruiting and training students for staff photographer positions

Online Manager/Webmaster

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the website
  • Ensuring content is up-to-date and accessible
  • Creating content for social media channels
